British Precision Springs
British Precision Springs began in 1938, created to meet the growing demand for high accuracy springs across the UK’s horological and instrumentation industries. Originally part of the Smiths Group, the company quickly established itself as a specialist manufacturer with a reputation for consistency and technical precision.
By the 1950s, British Precision Springs had become one of the world’s leading producers of hairsprings, supplying components for clocks, gauges, and specialist instruments used in both civilian and industrial applications. In 1977, following the restructuring of Smiths Industries, the company transitioned into Speedograph Richfield Ltd.
Timeless Motorcycles now holds the remaining stock, preserving this legacy and making these original British made hairsprings available once again to restorers and instrument specialists.
